Every Experience Ends with Learning a Positive Life Skill

Today, there is too much focus on the negatives around us. Turning on the news or opening the newspaper you can quickly see and hear all of the bad things going on in the world.

It is no wonder why children have such low self-esteem these days. Most children rarely get the positive feedback that everyone desires in order to feel good about themselves. That is where this week’s Life Skill starts.

I truly believe that you can make EVERY experience have a positive result if you think hard enough. It is certainly easier to take the short road, and simply punish your child for not following doing what they are told, but what is the long term result? A sense of failure and fear…then the self-esteem drops. Continue this cycle and your child will become a victim their entire life.

Don’t allow that to happen to your child!!

Here is the system I use in my martial arts school with children of all ages:

1) The child has not done what I asked them to do

2) Take a breath and pause for a moment

3) Think to yourself, "Here is an opportunity to create a positive result from this experience"

4) Decide what is the outcome you want from this experience

5) Take Action
